More on Ivy League Abstinence

More letters on the NY Times virginity story. Here's a sample:

As a college senior, I found Randall Patterson’s article on abstinence movements at the university level particularly interesting (March 30). While making assertions that the hook-up culture pigeonholes young men and women into sexual roles with which they may not be comfortable, students like Janie Fredell and Leo Keliher are marketing equally destructive images of ideal sexual behavior.

Sexual preferences and desires are personal and should not be subject to the moral compasses of our compatriots. Making normative statements about sexuality, especially when framed as “in the best interest” of others, is neither healthy nor constructive.
